Next Theme: PLACE & LOCATION: The next group show will focus around the theme of place and location. How do local artists address the idea of place? How do they reveal and question commonly held assumptions about land, home, as well as national and local pride? Pieces involving architecture either directly or indirectly involving a specific physical location or a psychological place are fair game. In addition we are looking for (a) location (224 Allen) specific piece(s) -- this may involve mural painting, dance, or sculpture -- please contact JR directly to make arrangements. If we've talked about this before, I think this is the time.
This show will open on Friday June 4th. The mural work will continue Saturday and Sunday June 5-6th (12PM-6PM). If you would like to participate please let us know. Deadline for submissions is May 21st.
Musicians for the 2010 Allen West Art Garden: The SP@CE be hosting a private party for patrons and artists of the gallery in conjunction with the Allen West festival this year. JULY 2 - 16 | FIRST FRIDAY : Group Show
Consumption
How do local artists represent and display the concept of consumption? We live in a disposable society and while steps are being taken by many to "green" our world we are still among the top consumers in the world. Artists display work that plays on consumption, mass production, and the future of a "green" planet.
