In 2001, a group of artists came together and created a grass-roots organization dedicated to building connections within the visual arts community and the region itself. The mission of the association, now called Artists in Buffalo is to:
- Support , promote and increase the visibility of regional artists, galleries, museums and related arts businesses
- Provide a unique opportunity for the greater community to visit artists in their working environment
- Support Buffalo Niagara region in its quest to be identified as a strong cultural center and its emergence as an arts destination
- Provide a substantial visual resource that conveys the quality and breadth of art created in our area
In 2005,the organization began publishing an Artist and Gallery Guide. This full color resource will be updated and distributed yearly, providing a unique collection of images and information showcasing the quality and breadth of the arts community in the Buffalo/Niagara region.
